As my mk3 is a 220 it has pale silver faces as standard. I made new hands for the time clock with red hands so they match the needles in the cluster. I had open circuit gps module problems too and navigation fault errors. I fitted a genuine ford sync 3 gps module from a 2018 Kuga which solved the problem. Can't remember the part number sorry. A German Mondeo forum says the Sync 2 GPSM module is behind the A pillar on the drivers side, but I haven't had time to look yet. The MK3 and MK3.5 Level 3 (full color) instrument clusters are technically 100% identical. The only differences are the hardware and software version numbers. Because of the different hardware version number it is not possible to update the MK3 instrument cluster to MK3.5 software using the Ford IDS or FDRS diagnostic systems.

Once you've removed the surrounds and cluster screws then I've found Its very stiff to remove if its the first time, the best way I found was to put your index fingers facing upwards at either side of the cluster (next to the screw holes) and pull up your fingers upwards and towards you
Yes definitely a hardware issue, but no chance of fixing it other than replacing the display. If you want to keep the mileage etc, find another unit and just swap out the screen. It's where the flat-flex pcb has come away from the TFT driver IC or where the driver itself has failed. go4it. 536 posts · Joined 2016.
